The fiber I/O card is used as an optical input and output card for all VADIS system fiber optical signals. It can receive 64 channels from a VADIS TX/fiber I/O card, and it can transmit 64 channels to RX/fiber I/O cards.

Every channel includes 24 bits of audio, 6 bits of info, and 2 bits used for VADIS internal serial messages. Each of these channels can be routed to any of the 256 channels of the VADIS bus system.
