For HD encoding and decoding, the new Grass Valley HDE 8100 and HDE 8200 offer next-generation performance that enables studios, broadcasters, and satellite and cable operators to exchange and distribute high-definition (HD) signals while maximizing their available bandwidth. With advanced digital video compression and audio quality, the encoder and decoder use the latest chip technology to facilitate highquality 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 compression profiles. Only 1 RU high, they support the full gamut of standard-definition (SD) and HD formats, including 1080i, 720p, and 480i. They also support high-quality, multi-channel audio, accommodating four stereo channels of AES/ EBU audio as well as embedded audio signals.
